Magnetic – What is it?

Magnetic sheeting measuring .030″ thick is a material used for signs that can enhance any vehicle or steel surface without being permanently affixed to the desired surface. To attach your magnetic to non-magnetic surfaces, steel tape may be used. Vinyl lettering or graphics can be applied to magnetics to create an attractive design to meet your business needs.

When properly cared for, magnetic material has an outdoor life of approximately one year.

Sizes

Magnetic material is available in several lengths and is easily cut into shapes, allowing for custom application. Maximum size is 24″ x 50′. The thickness is .030 gauge.

Thicknesses

To keep cost down, magnetic material is generally stocked in white only. However, you can create a variety of colored backgrounds by overlaying vinyl onto the surface of the magnetic.

Value-Enhancing

There are several ways you can increase the value and effectiveness of your magnetic sign:

  • Adding additional lettering colors
  • Adding a logo
  • Utilizing a graphic symbol
  • Designing unusual shapes or design backgrounds

Installation and Care

Here are a few points to keep in mind:

  • A magnetic sign should not be applied to a newly painted vehicle. Allow at least 60 days for fresh paint to cure.
  • A trained staff member will assist you in determining the proper size for your magnetic sign.
  • Always make sure that the surface where the magnetic is to be applied is thoroughly cleaned. If small particles are left in the designated area of application it may cause the magnetic not to stick and therefore your magnetic may be lost.
  • When storing your magnetic do not roll up or fold. Simply place your magnetic on the refrigerator or a filing cabinet (note: do not put on/near a computer)

Caring for your Magnetics:

Cleaning: To clean the sign, wipe gently with a damp, soapy sponge, but do not immerse the sign in water — and never take your magnetic sign through a car wash! Also, periodically wash and wax the vehicle area where magnetics are placed.

Storage: Don’t leave your sign inside your vehicle during warm weather. High temperatures can cause it to lose its aerodynamic properties. For storage, spread your sign flat on a smooth metal surface.Be sure not to lay them down anywhere that has small metal filings that can attach to the back – take special care to make sure the backs are clean before reinstalling.Removable magnetic signs turn any vehicle into the company car.

Banner Material – What is it?

We provide a standard stock of banner materials that will suit almost all of your sign needs. We stock 16 and 13 ounce vinyl and nylon woven banner material. Although there are other types of materials such as Tyvek and polyethylene, these are for limited applications and cannot be expected to last longer than a few days or weeks outside.

You should consider using a heavier weight material when the banner will be suspended between poles or buildings. Grommets every 2-3′ minimize stress and the two-ply corners ensure strength for intermediate to long-term outdoor life.

Our standard, stocked banner material is guaranteed to be vinyl receptive only on one side. If the sign is hung outside, letters on the second side may come off in as few as three days. If letters are applied to the proper side, though, the banner can last many years outdoors. Of course, proper care and handling will affect the longevity of a banner.

Special care needs to be given to the installation of large banners. If you are unsure of the best application method, call us.

Sizes

Our banner material typically comes on a roll that is 36″ or 54″ wide by 40-, 45-, or 75-yards long. Some common sizes for banners are 2′ x 8′, 3′ x 10′, and 4′ x 15′. The maximum size for a banner is virtually unlimited, and we can also provide you with any customized size desired.

Value-Enhancing

There are several ways in which you can increase the value and effectiveness of your aluminum sign:

  • Adding striping and/or borders
  • Using additional lettering colors
  • Adding a photo
  • Adding a logo
  • Using a graphic symbol
  • Utilizing unusual shapes or designs

Installation and Care

While the banner is in production, grommets will be placed in all four corners and every 2-3’ feet between, across the top and bottom. These are used to hang and secure the banner.

To prevent letter separation and air bubbles, when storing your banner, you should always roll the banner with the graphics or letters to the outside. Never fold your banner because it will cause it to have creases.

Corrugated Plastic – What is it?

Corrugated plastic, also known by the brand name Coroplast®, is an extremely versatile, extruded twin-wall plastic sheet. It is durable and can be cut to create collapsible signage. Corrugated Plastic is an excellent substitute for poster board or card stock for interior applications. Its surface is not affected by most oils, solvents or water, and cleans easily.

Corrugated plastic is aligned with flutes that generally run horizontally across the width of the sign. There is a slight detection of lines when looking at the material.

By cutting through the first corrugation only, you can create A-frame signs or table tent signs. The cut will also allow the sign to be folded and carried in a briefcase or suitcase.

Sizes

Corrugated plastic is available in a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses, and comes in sheets of up to 48″ x 96″

Thicknesses

The stocked thickness of corrugated plastic is 3mm (approx. 1/8″ to 3/16″), but other sizes are available.
